The feeling of joy comes in different shades: sometimes it is loud, euphoric, and spectacular, our hearts are pounding, and we can feel the blood rushing through our veins. But then there is this other form. One that is much softer, much deeper and calmer – the sense of being able to simply let go.
Pina Palau’s latest single «Closer» captures this very feeling. It follows her debut album «Illusion», which was released in the fall of 2022 and brought her both national and international acclaim.
«For me, this song if about this beautiful, flow-like state, where you loosen the grip and leave all your intentions and expectations behind», Palau says. When thinking of this, two images come to her mind: a jellyfish drifting in the ocean and a kite dancing in the wind, both referenced in the lyrics. While the latter flies freely in the sky, it is still attached to the ground. «If one has strong roots – and by roots I mean our values and convictions – they will always find their way home.» Or in other words: they can let loose without getting lost.
